Target again

I decided to stop by Target again after I dropped Michael off at pre-k. Michael, my husband was pretty excited with all the free cereals I picked up yesterday and wanted me to get a few more. I bought (2) 12 packs of poptarts, 10 single serving cereals, 5 Buddies soap, and 1 gallon of milk. I seemed to have upset the manager today. I guess we're not suppose to use more than one coupon per transaction. She told me that I shouldn't shop there if I'm only intending to get free items. This really hurt my feeling because I love shopping at Target and I feel like she told me I can't shop there. She said that she's calling corporate to complain about the coupons so I hope that I haven't made it where Target gets rid of coupons all together. I apologized to her and told her that I didn't know that I couldn't use more than one on a transaction. She tells me that I should read the coupon..."It plainly states..Limit one offer per transaction!" I once again apologize and she tells me that she will allow it today but don't expect it to happen again and that she will be calling corporate office to complain and get this fixed. *SIGH* So I spent $4.92 and saved $18.84. Target was doing a special where if you buy (2) 12 pack poptarts, you get a free gallon of milk, so the only thing I paid for was the poptarts...I don't feel very good about this shopping trip though

  1. Oh tell the manager to piss off next time. :) I usually only use two coupons at a time. She is just upset that you are beating the system, and she thinks you are stealing from Target which you aren't. The manufacturers reimburse Target for their coupons. The manager must have been having a bad day. I would contact corporate if I were you. I have read about people experiencig the same thing as you and they contacted corporate about it and corporate promised to contact the store and is usually apologetic about it. Corporate doesn't want to lose your business. And usually repromands the manager for being so rude. But anyways! GREAT SAVINGS!

  2. I just had a horrible experience at Target. it was my first time doing the coupon thing. I think I had a mentally challenged cashier. She dropped some of coupons, scanned them so slowly and said that the computer wouldn't let her scan any more of the Target General Mills coupons. Whatever, i was dissappointed, but then I thought, well I had 10 coupons, why did you only give me 4 back if I was only allowed to use one. She stole my coupons. so I just returned the rest of the cereal. Next time, and the WILL be a next time, I will ring them up individually and hold up the line. THE END.

  3. And another thing, it's not like I'm stealing. I love Target too. We spend a lot of money there. That's where all of my baby stuff came from. I see nothing wrong with a few free items to reward me for my loyalty.

  4. that's what Michael told me to do...since they want to be rude about it, just do 20 different transactions, they'll love that. I told him that they'll end up posting my picture up at every register banning me from using coupons. I feel so bummed, I want to go to Target to get a few other things I found coupons for but I'm afraid they might not let me use them. I'm probably going to go to the other Target and try it there. I think the manager was mad because she saw me yesterday get all those things free and I was trying to do it again. So no back to back shopping at Target.

  5. I am serious about calling corporate. I would complain about being harrassed and feeling belittled. I don't have any tolerance for that. It is a simple human error to not see the tiny print that says one per transaction. One lady I know was escorted out by security because they thought she was abusing coupons (some people are just uneducated about coupons, and she wasn't abusing them). That would be horrifying and an awful experience. I would call before my next trip to Target to see who the manager on duty is. Or take Michael with you and you do a transaction and then he do one.

  6. I was going to suggest the same thing. Call corporate! It's one thing for the manager to tell you that you can only use one coupon per transaction, but to tell you that you shouldn't shop there to get free stuff, that was wrong. She needs to keep her personal feelings to herself and take it up with corporate! I don't know what she is complaining about. Corporate refunds that money to the store. So call and complain that you felt humiliated in front of other customers and that she basicly treated you like a little child. Who knows. Let them know that she said "you shouldn't shop there..." They might give you a gift card for your troubles. I know walmart used to do that.

  7. And if target doesn't want you to use more than one coupon, they need to limit the amount you can print. That is miss leading.

  8. But what I'm worried about is...I call corporate and complain and they tell me I shouldn't have used the coupons like that and I was wrong, then I feel that much worse. Because it does seem kinda weird to get free stuff when they're in the business of making money. Then what if they get rid of the coupons all together, then I have the whole fliping world mad at me because I was the reason Target canned the coupons.

  9. ok...I called corporate and from the sound of it, she's going to get yelled at pretty intensely. You can only use one coupon per transaction, but you can make as many transactions as you want, and keep everyone behind you in line for eternity. I didn't get any gift card or anything. I feel better but I hope they don't fire her, I would hate that.

  10. Good for you. And using more than one at a time wasn't really the issue, it was the way she talked to you! If Target wants everyone to hold up lines, then that's their problem.

  12. Thank you! It was never really was about how many coupons you had, it was the way the manager handled the situation. The manager won't be fired, but will probably get a warning or "re-educated" on how to treat customers. Corporate is always really understanding, and rarely tells the customer they were in the wrong. I am glad you called. And the world isn't mad at you! :)
